I can not hold it in any more. I have to share.
During our ventures of looking at many properties, we have found one which left a major impact on us both. The Captain was in Love. I was in Love. And the ride home was quiet while we thought about the Farm. Then the talking of the place has consumed many conversations.
We are going to try for the place and hope to get our current home sold ASAP. Of course there are inspections to be had but I am not worried about the home or structure itself. We spent over an hour looking the actual house over and even the basement was amazing. Dry and immaculate. Original Large stone walls. Perfect for storing the home brew and canned goods.
Here are a few sneak peeks of the place on 14 acres- a 4 bedroom 2 bath almost 1700 sq ft home with a limited supply of free gas for winter heating- almost enough for the whole winter.
The roof is slate! This front porch faces the 1 acre Spring fed pond.
You can see the home and 5 car garage in the background of the pond, not to mention a wonderful long drive where no one can "surprise" us with their presence at the door:
You can see the large garage roof top in the below picture. See how far away other homes are? The land goes a ways back behind and beside the house.
So now you know what we have been day dreaming and hoping for. The Captain even said "I want to grow old and die there".
It's love alright...
Sweet dreams,
Tammie

I bet you can't sleep for dreaming. It is a beauty. Hope it is soon yours...
It's simply beautiful! The surroundings are so serene and the house it's self is charming. Hope you get it.

Sending lots of good thoughts your way in the hopes that that dream is soon in your grasp. It's a beautiful place!
I love the quote of your husband saying "I want to die there." That's exactly how we knew we had found our PLACE. You know you have a sense of place and belonging when you stop thinking of the NEXT house and you pick the tree you would want to be buried under. Too bad laws prevent that sort of thing these days. I already have my favorite tree picked out in the back field where I would want to be buried. I guess I'll just bury my horse there instead.
Wow...it is my dream too. Wonderful.
I'll be checking in to see how it goes....
More later,
Kary
Good luck to you
I hope you get this beautiful place.
Blessings
WOW! How wonderful for you! I love my house, and it is more in the country than where I lived before, but oh, I'd like several acres where I could do what I want - his and hers areas...he likes lawn, I like vegetables now & maybe some critters! Is it far from your present home?
Oh my...that is a fantastic farm!! :) The house is absolutely adorable! I am so excited for you! I hope it all goes well and quickly!!
Thanks guys. We did not want to leave and the realtor even said we spent more time looking at everything then anyone else he has shown it to- the current owner requires him to be there for every showing so despite another realtor bringing people he has to be there. There are lots of antique expensive furniture in the house still so he wants to make sure the place is secure after and during showings.
The Roof is SLATE! Beautiful old slate. He was surprised I knew what it was and seemed happy about it. I guess the past lookers were expecting the home to appear like newer homes inside but we are the first to love it's old farmhouse charm and style. There are a few details I would change but nothing major and a can of paint would not solve.
It is about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes from here-south.
I plan on being cremated and The Captain insist's he be "stuffed" and made into a statue with a cigar in hand..
I told him to look forward for his eternal rest to be in a good will store someday.LOL. I mean come on, he can;t expect the kids to have a stuffed dead body bronzed and WANT to have dad in their living room. I can just imagine the great intro's oH Thats just my dad. We decorate him with the seasons which is why he is wearing a "Guayabera"
