My planned post has been postponed till tommorow. Instead I bring you this post feature of my neighborly dismay special..... And the battle is on! Apparently, my neighbors on the other side of my "barnyard" think my chickens roaming on MY PROPERTY is a nuisance to them... He has a chainlink fence seperating our yards so my chickens are not in his, but scratch next to it on occasion. He too sits on over one acre and has an outbuilding blocking his view to the rest of his back yard anyway. If they somehow did get in his yard, it would be to eat the fallen apples from his tree behind said building that he does not bother to clean up & attracts all the stinging bugs. He is gone ALL day & the kicker is he has had plenty of oppurtunity to say something to me- not including the thought of walking over to my house- knocking on the door and asking me nicely to help keep the chickens away from his yard. I see him every morning when I drop Panda off at school because he too does open enrollment. I even wave and say how ya doing?! So just a little bit ago the zoning guy stopped by to say a complaint was made that my "roosters" were roaming which is against the zoning law..They must be contained in an enclosure set back 100ft from neighbor propertyy lines and 60ft from the road. I only have 2 roosters. I have 6 hens. I have 1 1/4 acres of property and have the fence line legal on the road side and that neighbors side. I told the zoning guy they were getting out because they are due for wing clipping. They hop the fence and being this time of year, the garden harvest/preserving comes first since it does not wait. I was nice, he was nice and we sat laughing. I told him I will take care of it when I have someone to help watch the children. It needs to be done when they are all in the coop since I do not have all day to chase chickens- that is unless he would like to volunteer his babysitting services for my children while I do so.
My sunshine & peace symbol coop is gone to a freecycler, so I will be looking for the most obnoxious color of paint I can find and the coop on his side will be freshly painted with it and the polka dots with another ugly color will be applied. I wish I could think of something insulting for a symbol- him being a preacher and all- just to drive it in I am ticked & do not play well with others.
I am steaming still! And to think, I actualy thought about raking my leaf covered yard and picking up the misc. that is laying around in it before winter...

him being a preacher, he'd probably get plenty upset over staring at a pentagram painted on the building!
what a jerk.
me being a smartass, i'd clip the roosters' wings and let the hens continue to roam since the complaint was over the roosters.
people are just antisocial hypocrits anymore. it's sad what this country is turning in to.
I'm sorry to hear that they are back at it again( your neighbours). It seems to me that you are the one who plays well with others but not your neighbours!
How about nauseating green with wavy lines in all different colours? If it does nothing else it make him feel a bit motion sick!
Hope things get better.
Brightest blessings

I found your blogg out blogg hoping, via Happy Owl.
I don't have that much trouble with our neighbors.
One of the neighbor prefer to call us "Those type of people"
Then on the other hand I have a set of inlaws. Are so stuck on them self that their shit don't stink.
some time they act like their better then almighty and we have to knock them down few steps.
I think their coming around they haven't been snooty resently.
Nice blogg
It turns out the actual complaint does state "chickens and the zoning guy wrote roosters on his paper. I get so upset over this harrassment and the worst part is they can get away with it. So now if Their dog were to roam into my yard and kill my animals, he can say they were roaming free and get away with it because i did not have them "confined" to an area. Have I mentioned how I do not like preachers or yuppies? I want to fight against this crud but the regualtions seem to go in his favor on everything i can think of- except Stella's idea. I am painting my "religious" symbol on the coop real big and bold. I will also be puttin it on the goat barn side towards the road in true Unusual Farmchick style! I will be painting the one by his house an obnoxious color before paintin on the pentagram. There is nothing in the regulations that say i cannot do this since it is my given freedom of religion right. They have all been penned as was the requirment but the big kicker is, they are penned 100 feet from his property line and within earshot of his bedroom!! so anybody got some roosters they want to get rid of? LOL ....wringing hands and smirking evily...He shot his own foot of my friends!!- again!!
My first inclination was to suggest a large cross in hunter orange, on a background of acid green or pee yellow (maybe combined as stripes?).
On reflection, though, it seems the best revenge is .. living well. Your neighbor may have put his name to a complaint -- there is no telling if someone else harassed him into it, or if he conceived the problem on his own. Besides, there may be a 'nuisance paint scheme on outbuildings' ordnance, or he might claim it was graffiti and a threat to the neighborhood.
And it seems a shame to use anyone's religion as a symbol of harassment.
(I followed a comment from the Cauldron Ridge Farm blog.)
Blessed be!
I did paint the pentagram on said spots but did it with a banishing "ritual". There seems to be too much negativity coming from those directions. I have the same symbol on my door (mentioned in a previous entry with pics) made from a grapevine circle wreath and some twigs formed into a star. This was placed on my door kinda like a "no evil may enter here" symbol. I beleive in Karma and I beleive in energies. Negative energy is what I am trying to banish with my methods, and feel that many who are of the cross faith would do so with their symbol and a prayer. Its not that much different realy.
